Learning Outcome 2

For Project #2, I used articles by Charles Mann and Lizzie Widdicombe.  Mann’s article talked about the conflict between the Wizards and Prophets ways of trying to feed the growing number of mouths on Earth.  Widdicombe’s piece followed the man behind Soylent, the food replacing beverage. In my essay, I tried to bring together the pros from Soylent and connect it to the Wizard’s ways of thinking, and how I think that they will be able to feed the growing number of mouths on the planet.  An example of this is when I write “This is where I feel Rhinehart’s Soylent correlates with the ideas of the Wizards. Rhinehart’s belief “that food was an inefficient way of getting what he needed to survive” drove him to research the raw chemical components of food that the human body needs to survive (Widdicombe 1).  In this section from my piece I begin to explore the connecting between Rhinehart’s Soylent creation and the Wizard’s innovative ways of being more efficient along with creating more technology. In my Project #2 I also tried to show that there is a different way of thinking than just the Wizard’s ideas, I also included that the Prophets also have good points that I felt could help feed more and more people on Earth.  Although I tried to show that by combining both ideas from the Wizard’s and Prophet’s are beneficial, I found this more challenging because these two ideas are quite opposite from one another.
